Bridgewater Associates, Inc.
Information Session – Tuesday, November 27, 5PM at the Nassau Inn
Resume Drop Deadline – 2/7/2008
On-Campus Interviews – 2/21/2008
We're looking for people who can be the leaders of the company – starting on their very first day.
Bridgewater Associates, Inc. is one of the largest managers of hedge fund strategies, with approximately $165 billion in global investments. Since its founding 30 years ago, Bridgewater has developed a deep understanding of fundamental economic and market relationships and uses this logic systematically to trade around the world. The firm is located in Westport, Connecticut and has 475 employees.
There are three ingredients behind Bridgewater's success: its process, its people, and its culture. At Bridgewater, we have invented, and keep inventing, superior approaches to investing and technology. We have fueled this innovation by recruiting talented, creative people from all backgrounds and promoting an invigorating and collaborative work environment. We are committed to the constant pursuit of excellence, and a meritocracy of ideas, not hierarchies, drives decision-making. You can learn more about Bridgewater by visiting www.bwater.com.
What are the keys to Bridgewater's success?
Depth of Understanding: Logic is our edge. What are the fundamental drivers of wages, prices, booms, and busts? How is the balance of power between the emerging and developed world shifting? How can we know more about Ben Bernanke's next move than he does? We need to make sure that no one is studying these things more deeply and effectively than we are – not professors, not traders, not Nobel laureates – because anyone who does will put us out of business.
Meritocracy of ideas: Argue. Criticize. Confront. Challenge. If we let bureaucracy and hierarchy guide our decisions, we won't get all the best ideas. That is why we insist on a culture in which the best ideas win, regardless of who is expressing them or how they are expressed. Everyone is required to generate ideas and actively participate in their objective critique and evaluation.
Constant improvement: Never stop inventing. Sophisticated investors demand exceptional returns. We can deliver on this promise only if we stay at the cutting edge of understanding markets, building optimized portfolios, trading efficiently, and providing expert advice to clients. No matter how good our performance, our systems or processes, we always focus on making them better.
Positions:
MANAGEMENT SUMMER ASSOCIATE (newly created!)
We are looking to hire the next generation of managers. Those who succeed quickly find themselves in positions of significant responsibility, often directly managing part of the business in their first couple of years.

How interest rate and currency conditions impact the economic environment globally
How interest rates, stock markets, currencies, and commodity prices interact and influence one another
How to convert an understanding of the fundamental linkages between economic conditions and market movements into a systemized investment decision-making process
