    Physics Trip 2006

Letter to Students
2006 Sophomore field trip for PHY203/205 students

The physics department is planning the annual week-long field trip for sophomores to take place during the fall break 2006, from Saturday, Oct. 28 to Saturday, Nov 5. This trip will be fully funded by the physics department, and open to all students enrolled in PHY203 and PHY205.

PHY203 and PHY205 cover a significant amount of material on central force motion, a topic discussed right before the fall break The goal of the fall trip is to allow students to make a direct connection between classroom material and exciting current research on gravity and interplanetary physics.

The trip, organized by Professor Chiara Nappi, will include stargazing in Joshua Tree National Park led by the "Sky's the Limit", visits to Palomar and Wilson observatories in Southern California, and visits to Caltech and Jet Propulsion Lab, the NASA center for interplanetary exploration. There will also be free time to visit local attractions, and to do some desert hiking. For a more detailed schedule and descriptions/pictures of activities, please look at the webpage of the 2005 fall trip

In order to organize the 2006 trip, we need to know how many students plan to participate. If you are interested in participating, please send an e-mail to cnappi@princeton.edu by April 30. Or bring your questions to the physics department open house for prospective majors on April 10, 6PM, in the Joe Henry room, in the Jadwin Hall main lobby.
